Education
Mission: To create awareness of the educational opportunities available to County residents; to offer, promote, and enhance these opportunities; and to create new opportunities to meet unfulfilled need.
Activities & Accomplishments:
- Carbon County was one of ten recipients in the State to receive funding from the Department of Labor and Industry to create a pilot program in the County’s schools.
- Developed a work readiness curriculum that addresses standards from the Pennsylvania Career and Work Standards.
- Brought thirty employers together in workshops aimed at prioritizing skills necessary for entry level positions in business and industry.
- Received a $100,000 state grant to expand the “Employers in the Classroom” project, to provide job-shadowing and internship opportunities, to create a “Teachers in the Workplace” program, and to create a career exposition for job seekers, employers, students, and parents.
