Family Collaborative
The Carbon County Child and Family Collaborative targets early childhood/parent education, after-school programs, and family counseling. As part of Carbon County Partners for Progress, the Child and Family Collaborative has successfully acquired over $2,000,000 for:
- Right from the Start early childhood program which serves 130 children from prenatal to age five and their families.
- Lehigh Carbon Community College SHINE After-School which provides after-school programs to pre-K to 4th graders for 125 children and 250 family members per year.
- Pre-K Counts and Carbon County Head Start
The Collaborative and its 35 partners have successfully created a seamless network of educational and social services for children from birth to 4th grade and their families. It has built a model of prevention called the "The Carbon County Building Blocks for Success," which encompasses numerous county initiatives whose mission is to "Nurture the positive and combat the negative trends affecting children and families in Carbon County."
Currently, the collaborative is working on the creation of a comprehensive family center.
